PRE-SEASON TRAINING PROGRAM

(DATES TBD FOR 2024-2025)

SlyFox Wrestling Academy will be hosting an 6 week training camp in preparation for the upcoming Folkstyle Season this winter. It is open to all wrestlers.  This training camp will focus on getting the wrestlers ready to compete at a high level by the end of October.

Folkstyle Season 2023-2024

Youth (6-14 yrs old)

This program is designed for Kindergarten through 8th grade wrestlers who seek training at a high level in a fun/focused environment. Along with current techniques and training methods, these sessions will offer mastery of basic fundamentals that have proven success at all levels. We will travel to scheduled tournaments in KS and MO throughout the season in order to prepare of the end of the season USAWKS Youth State Championships.  We will put out a schedule of Tournaments the staff will attend by the end of November.  Wrestlers aren't required to compete or go to any specific tournaments.  We will do our best to provide competition information to our members so you can best decide what fits your wrestler.  

SlyFox Wrestling Academy offers two distinct levels for our Folkstyle Season.

LEVEL 1 - Entry Level Wrestlers typically with 2 seasons or less experience

LEVEL 2 - Wrestlers with 2 years experience or more.

LEVEL 3 - Wrestlers with 2 years experience or more.  Team is formed on a TRY OUT basis.

SlyFox coaching staff will determine which level your wrestler will enter our program at.

Off-Season Training Schedule

Mondays and Wednesdays - 6:00 - 8:00 PM

We will continue to train Folkstyle from March 11th thru March 29th. 

This 3 week program will focus on Folkstyle techniques to get prepared for a few off-season National Tournaments.  

3/24 - Cedar Valley Nationals - Cedar Falls, IA

3/29-3/30 - Midwest Classic - Kearney, NE

3/29 - Cheesehead Apocalypse - Wisconsin Dells, WI

4/13 - Adidas Nationals - Independence, MO

Freestyle and Greco will begin April 1st and run through June 2nd with the Southern Plains Regional Championships.

This 9 week program will focus on Freestyle and Greco-Roman techniques. 

4/6 - Black and Blue Freestyle/Greco

4/20 - Fight or Flight Freestyle/Greco

4/27 - Ultimate Freestyle

5/31 - 6/2 - Southern Plains Regional Championships

Multiple coaches will be leading the practices including Conner Ward, Jeramy Jackson and Eric Akin!!!

Conner Ward was a 4x KSHSAA State Finalist and a State Champion his Sr. campaign in 2018.  He notched a 153 and 16 record with 70 pins and 30 technical falls.    Conner wrestled for University of Arkansas Little Rock (NCAA Division 1) 2019 - 2022.

Eric Akin was a 3 x KSHSAA State Champion at Bishop Miege H.S.  Eric was a 3 x Big Eight champion and a 4 x NCAA All American at Iowa State from 1991 thru 1994.  Eric was a Silver Medalist at the 2000 World cup and a 2 x US Olympic Alternate.

SUMMER TRAINING SESSIONS

SlyFox mini-clinics are a great way to stay in shape and drill specific positions through out the summer months!
